I love the food, the people, most of them are very friendly. Transport wise was cheap too. I am not going to compare, no point comparing. So far their mrt was good, so much better! Its the 1st time in my life seeing poeple queueing up to board the mrt, they REALLY queue up. 1st time seeing people wait for others to alight the train before boarding. 1st time seeing the priority seats empty even thought the mrt was packed with people.
Their bus was good too, helpful bus driver, you will be surprised for what you see.
Anyway enjoy the foods there....
Our simple breakfast. Very nice and cheap.
Ding Tai Feng, actually not very nice. Not recommended.
Big hot dog.....
The food below you cannot find it in Singapore, Zhu Xue Tang. Singapore no longer have this. I remember when i was small, singapore still got sell this.
Ah Gai...heehee actually nothing special. Taste wise ok lol.
Table full of food!I didnt dare to eat the above...so smelly. My hubby loves it.
I love blood tofu (a Chinese variant of Black pudding, common from Europe to Asia, according to Wikipedia), which you featured in Zhu Xue Tang above (literally 'pig blood soup'; said tofu is actually congealed like tofu).
ReplyDeleteIt seems to have disappeared from Singapore altogether.
I wonder if it's because our pigs are nowadays grown in Indonesia, where blood may be considered unclean.
The blood tofu used to be in pig innards soup with salted vegetables, or stir fried with same preserved veggies for Chinese mixed rice.
It tastes like a particularly chewy and tasty version of firm tofu or 'tau kwa'.

Until you get back to Taiwan for good food again, I wonder if Xiao Bar Wang at Ion Orchard B4 tastes good enough for you and your hubby.
I find it (quite) cheap and good, compared to say the food court on the same level.
what they sell? Didnt notice heehee
DeleteI was first attracted to Xiao Bar Wang 小霸王 when I noticed Mediacorp show presenter Wang Jianfu 王建复 promoting it.
ReplyDeleteI love their flower tea, mushroom tea eggs, black sugar milk tea, braised pork rice (better than the lor bak here!) and mee sua (with tender minced chicken shaped like fish balls!).
You might also like their mega crispy chicken and crispy fish.
Below is their website.
They have 4 branches, also at Tampines 1, Raffles City (City Hall) and One Raffles Place:
